though moving is carried out by many companies, it is your responsibility
to pack all the things before moving. For this reason, to make the work
better and trouble-free you are advised to follow the guidelines given

- Always confirm that
the moving process is going smoothly according to the schedule. Else
consult with your movers to keep another date ready in case of any complications
arise during the scheduled date without indulging in extra charges.
- If you have pets
then pay attention to their needs because you might be busy in your

- Try to get good
packaging from big shopping malls where they have separate places for
storage. So there is no much work for you in this place!
- As soon as you pack
each item write some code related to the item. This will help you to
identify the things at your destination reducing the workload a bit.
- Donate all the old
and worn out materials to charity. Throw away rubbish and waste materials
to reduce the complications in packing.
- Keep all the important
documents, bills and testament safely. After finalizing the paperwork
and needs of estate agent file those documents. Give special attention
to these documents by carrying it personally without putting it somewhere
inside the truck.
- You can request
you neighbors and friends to help you in this task.
- Make a notice to
banks, important institutes and others about the change of address.
Make the necessary changes in your license, passport and any identity
cards that will serve as address proof.
- Pay primary attention
to breakable items and pack them by yourself without letting others
to do it. Keep it in a safer place.
- Confirm the availability
of utilities like telephone, internet connection, gas and cable TV in
your place.
- Do necessary arrangements
for kids to have immediate admission to school. If you have not done
it, then register them at the school where they will attend the classes.
- If you are a garden
lover, then temporarily hand over them to your neighbors. You can plant
them later at your house.
- Due care should
be taken when you transport PC, Refrigerators, Audio Systems, Air Conditioners
and all other important electronic goods. Follow the manual carefully
and act according to the procedure specified in the manual.
- Strictly don’t
carry any chemical or inflammable substances in the truck. Make sure
that the lawnmowers and edge cutters are emptied with no fuel.
- Transfer the subscriptions
of newspapers and other things to the new address else cancel them.
- Insure all furniture
as well as precious things before you shift the place.
- Keep all the small
things like toothbrushes, kettles etc. readily accessible without hiding
them at the time of packing other items.
- Above all, prepare
a checklist and act accordingly. Go through the checklist before and
after moving to your new locality.
